However, the rear-wheel-drive Sierra 3500 HD can haul a whopping 6,985 pounds and tow up to 20,000 pounds. The Sierra 1500 simply can't compare. It's rated to tow up to 13,200 pounds and carry a payload of 2,240 pounds. Neither capacity is bad by any means, but they pale in comparison to the Sierra HD's capabilities. The Sierra HD also has an advantage in terms of towing features to help you manage your load.
